More Presence Please

It’s the small details of the present moment that remind us we’re alive.

And it’s in those small details of the present, where joy is found.

 

But lately I’ve noticed that I’m feeling more distracted and less present.

 

Like many of us, I’ve been caught up in the busy swirl of everyday life,

and losing myself in the pervasive technology designed to devour our attention.

 

Yet the present moment is all we ever have ~

And I want to be fully present for my life.

 

Because presence is how I connect deeply with myself,

with those I hold dear, and with the beauty of nature.

I want to be mindful and grateful for each moment in this body.

 

Mindfulness is the practice of being fully aware of your body, mind, and feelings

in the present moment.

 

It’s catching yourself when you’re ruminating on the past,

worrying about the future, or drifting away in distraction,

and bringing yourself back into your body,

into this intentional presence.  

 

Each moment lived with intentional presence is a sacred honoring of your life.

 

We have the choice in each moment,

no matter what’s happening or what we’re doing,

to either be mindful or mindless.

 

When we enjoy Being Mindfully Present, even in the doing of things

(instead of mindlessly checking them off a list),

our whole experience of life becomes more expansive.

 

Practicing mindfulness is practicing Self-Love ~

Because each time we bring ourselves back into presence

we’re showing ourselves that our life is worthy of our attention.


So this morning, I’m sipping my chai more slowly… 

enjoying this symphony of spices on my tongue,

appreciating the warmth as my hands embrace the mug,

noticing the swirl of steam as it dances upwards,

closing my eyes as I breathe in the aromatic notes.

 

This is a completely different experience when I’m present.

My body is receiving the nourishment more fully — joy-fully.

 

When we engage all of our senses

and meet this moment with presence,

nothing else matters except right now.

 

In this present mindful moment, we discover more joy within the fullness of life.

🌿A Moment of Mindfulness:

I invite you to place a hand on your chest as you take a deep breath,

noticing each sensation that arises…

Feel the air enter your nose, your chest rise, your lungs stretch, your belly fill.

Exhale with a hum or sigh, and notice the gentle vibration it creates.

... May you enjoy this intentional moment of presence with yourself.
