Holding Compassion for Our Humanity

Even though I love myself deeply and have a strong relationship with myself,
I’m careful not to put myself on a pedestal or pretend I don’t have faults.
Because loving yourself doesn’t mean thinking you’re amazing all the time.
It doesn’t mean believing you’re better than anyone else.
And it doesn’t mean having perfect confidence or flawless self-esteem.
Self-Love is something much quieter and deeper than that.
It’s in the way I show up with myself through every moment of my day.
Self-Love is the practice of first becoming aware of your self-talk,
the tone of your inner voice,
the nature of the thoughts you carry about yourself,
and the feelings you have about yourself…
And then committing to making sure that your words,
thoughts, and feelings toward yourself
are rooted in gentleness, acceptance, grace, compassion, and openness.
✨ Self-Love means welcoming the full spectrum of your humanity.
The parts that are incredible and make you proud of yourself…
and the parts that feel messy or uncomfortable.
The parts of you that are kind and loving…
and the parts that can feel reactive and hurtful.
The parts that are wise and witty…
and the parts that feel afraid and repressed.
All of it belongs.
Self-Love is the courage to hold every part of yourself
in a gentle and loving space.
With authenticity. With humility. With grace.
Because every aspect of who you are
was developed in response to the experiences you’ve had in life.
You may not be responsible for everything that has happened to you,
but you are responsible for what you choose to learn
and how you choose to evolve through those experiences.
Self-Love is the conscious decision
to meet yourself with compassion as you do that work.
To give yourself a loving space to process it all.
To extend patience toward your patterns.
To become curious about your reactions.
To understand yourself more deeply.
And the more openness and grace you bring to all aspects of yourself,
the more openness and grace you can offer to others.
The more compassion you cultivate for your own humanity,
the more compassion you will naturally extend to the humanity of others.
This is the deeper, generational healing we’re being invited to embrace now.
As we learn to love and understand ourselves more fully,
we expand our capacity to love and understand one another.
As we heal, we quietly contribute to the healing of the world.

"As we embrace and love all aspects of ourselves, we can extend that love to all of humanity, and in so doing, we play a part in healing the world." ~ Dick Schwartz
💛 Welcoming All Parts of You:
I invite you to pause for a moment.
Take a slow, deep breath in… and let it out even more slowly.
Bring to mind one part of yourself that you usually judge.
Instead of pushing it away, gently say:
"I welcome deeper understanding and grace for this part of myself."
