Embracing Mindfulness, Moment by Moment

This week, I’ve been loving myself by practicing presence.

I’ve been consciously reducing input,

turning off my notifications, rarely touching my apps,

and simply listening to music in the evenings

as I spend time connecting with myself.

I’ve felt more centered and creative, free and flowing…

I’m less distracted or disconnected, not stifled or strained.

I’m better able to sense what’s alive in me

and I’m openly receiving the nourishment that’s all around.

Mindful presence is where peace, clarity, joy, and love appear.

Mindfulness Allows us to fully enjoy the pleasant things in life while they’re here.

We can savor them as they bloom, if we don’t grip onto them.

Mindfulness also Allows us to safely experience the things that are difficult.

We can observe them as they pass, without the fear of being overtaken by them.

Whatever each moment brings,

I remind myself that it’s safe to engage my senses

and be fully present in my body.

Presence deepens enjoyment.

And presence actually softens pain.

Here's some of the gentle ways I’ve been embracing Mindful Presence:

(I invite you to try some of these on, or use them as inspiration for yourself)

- savoring the aroma, taste, and texture when I eat or drink something

- allowing a piece of rich dark chocolate to melt on my tongue

- rubbing my cat’s belly and enjoying the warmth and softness of his fur

- receiving the gift of mutual pleasure from the sound of his purring

- soaking in the resonant sound of my son's voice as he sings in the shower

- noticing the soft comfort of my socks on a chilly morning

- enjoying the way the sunlight filters through the trees on my walk

- marveling at the splendor of orange, red, and yellow leaves

- pausing to watch them slowly dance to the ground in graceful swirls

- appreciating the perfect temperature of the air before it turns too cold

- delighting in the exchange of love during a sweet, intentional hug

- slowly stretching into the tender ache of my shoulders and hips during yoga

- breathing into a headache and noticing the sensations

- fully feeling the pain in my big toe when I stubbed it

- extending my outbreath with a sigh as I let the sharp pain dissipate

- acknowledging the fear that grips me as my son plans a solo camping trip

- while also holding space for my appreciation of his adventurous spirit

Practicing Mindfulness isn’t about pushing yourself to show up perfectly.

It’s about welcoming the fullness of the moment each time you remember.

The more you practice, the more you’ll remember to practice...

And you’ll notice yourself enjoying more of the simple moments in your life.

Self-Love encourages us to Be Mindfully Present for our lives.

It reminds us that our own heart is our center of stillness ~

our solid foundation within,

where we can simply be with whatever arises

as an experience that's passing through, or by, us.

Embracing Mindfulness transforms ordinary moments into sacred presence.

It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment." ~ Jon Kabat‑Zinn
