December is Asking Us to Downshift

Updated: Dec 15, 2025

I’ve recently shared a simple Self-Love practice to help you recenter

amidst the busy surge of the holiday season:

Taking a soft pause for one slow and intentional deep breath.

I found myself leaning on that practice many times last week

as life sped up for me in a way that felt almost disorienting.

I had one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time…

Full days with a packed schedule and an endless To-Do list.

I had that familiar buzzing (warning!) sensation of trying to keep up with it all.

Have you been feeling that too?

Our modern culture is always urging us to move faster,

but it’s especially intense at this time of year.

We’re being pressed to do more, consume more, accomplish more.

But here in the Northern Hemisphere,

our Earth Mother is beckoning us to follow her lead.

She’s decreasing the hours of daylight,

cooling the temperature down,

and making it obvious that it’s time for us to snuggle in.

Your body is very precisely designed to align with the Earth’s natural rhythms.

So this is an invitation to slooow down.

Let go of the grind.

Soften your pace.

Allow yourself to relax into more spaciousness.

Instead of rushing into more of a frenzy…

It’s time for us to balance our time

between nourishing and intentional connection

with nourishing and intentional rest.

Our bodies are not meant to be rushing right now.

My body made this clear last week, and I had to take the weekend to recalibrate.

I invite us all to be careful to not overschedule.

Let’s stop overcommitting.

Let’s not overwhelm ourselves in the name of productivity.

If it’s possible, let yourself prioritize only what truly needs to be done.

The world will not collapse if a few things are quietly placed on the back burner.

And let’s remember that our own well-being is always the top priority

because Self-Love is the foundation that supports everything else in our lives.

So you’re allowed to honor your limits and your need for rest.

You’re allowed to ask for support.

You’re allowed to say no.

You can slow your pace without guilt.

And you’re encouraged to take a soft pause and an intentional deep breath

if you happen to catch yourself in a swirl of busyness.

We don’t have to rush to the finish line of the year.

December is not asking us for more performance —

it’s asking us to be still and to be present.

This time of rest is not laziness ~ it’s integration.

It’s your body aligning with your soul.

It’s your nervous system syncing with the circadian rhythm of the Earth.

Can you soften your pace? Downshift even just a little?

Can you take one intentional breath and return gently to yourself?

Slow down. Snuggle in. Let the Earth hold you.

Allow yourself to be supported by the season,

just as you were always meant to be.

"Align your body with the Earth's seasons — your breath, your heartbeat, your pace —

you are meant to be connected to the natural rhythms of life."

🌙 Settling in for the Season:

Close your eyes for a few moments.

Feel where your body naturally wants to soften.

Can you let the Earth hold you right now?

With each slow exhale, imagine your daily pace is gently slowing down...

Set the intention to let your body align with the rhythm of the season.
