Let Self-Love Be Simple

As we move into the bustle of the holidays,
I'd like to revisit just how simple it is to practice Self-Love,
so we can easily choose it in the moments we need it most.
I've been hearing a lot of misunderstandings about Self-Love lately,
so first let's review what Self-Love is not...
It's not about having amazing self-esteem
or being enamored with your reflection.
It's not putting yourself up on a pedestal
or buying yourself all the nicest things.
It’s not about spending hours at the gym
or always eating a restrictive diet to stay lean.
It’s not the discipline of flawless habits,
or having a perfect morning routine.
Self-Love is as simple as practicing self-awareness
and showing up compassionately for yourself in each moment.
It’s about nurturing an ongoing and deep connection with yourself.
It lives in each subtle micro-choice you make
and in each tiny brave pause you take.
✨ Self-Love is simply being lovingly present with yourself,
no matter what the moment brings.
It’s your willingness to not only notice what you’re feeling,
but to also give yourself an intentional moment of stillness
and a breath of presence
to let yourself feel it.
Self-Love is letting yourself be honest instead of pretending you’re fine.
It’s catching yourself in a story and returning to what’s real.
It’s taking responsibility for yourself when you’re gripping too tightly,
or when you’re projecting pain and grievances onto others.
It’s cultivating the ability to sit with yourself in discomfort
while staying lovingly present through the hard things.
And the beautiful ones too…
Because Self-Love is also allowing yourself to feel joy and excitement,
even when it’s vulnerable and scary to let the good things in.
It’s softening into the wonderful moments of life,
instead of bracing against the fear of losing them.
Let it be simple to love yourself.
Just be your own steady, compassionate, loving presence in all the moments,
no matter what they bring you.
As we move into the holiday season,
let’s keep practicing tiny acts of Self-Love
by cultivating our inner presence.
In the moments when your heart feels tender,
in the moments when it feels scary to let joy in,
in the moments when you don’t feel seen,
or when being seen feels like too much —
simply breathe into the moment and be the loving presence you need.
With one subtle deep breath,
and a silent inner reassurance of “I’m right here,”
you can make the simple choice to love yourself.

"The moment you become aware of your own presence, you have begun to love yourself."
~ Eckhart Tolle
🏵️ A Simple Moment of Self-Love:
Showing up for yourself can be just one soft breath…
one quiet whisper inward that says:
"I’ve got you. I’m here with you."
Sometimes that’s all you need.
