Finding Calm in Your Center

When the world around you feels crazy and chaotic,
when voices are shouting, sides are clashing,
and the noise of division leaves you anxious or unsettled,
how do you find your space of calm?
How do you steady yourself when everything around you feels unstable?
This is where the practice of Self-Love shines.
You only need a few intentional minutes.
You only need a few deep breaths.
Just a few quiet moments of presence and the love in your own heart,
is enough to return you to your center.
🌿 I’d love to offer this Gentle Reminder for whenever you need to recenter...
Find a quiet space.
It could be a favorite chair, the edge of your bed,
a quiet space outside works particularly well,
or even your car or a bathroom stall if that’s what you have in the moment.
Find stillness in a comfortable position.
Place one or both hands over your heart.
Close your eyes if you feel safe to do so.
Then begin taking slow, intentional breaths:
breathing in deeply through your nose,
pausing gently at the top for as long as it’s comfortable,
and exhaling as if you're slooowly blowing out a candle ~
letting your out-breath stretch as long as it can.
If you’re feeling particularly stressed,
you can add one (or all) of these simple practices to calm your nervous system:
Hum softly on the out-breaths, letting the vibrations settle your body.
Pat your hands gently over your heart.
Hug yourself by wrapping your arms around your body and rock gently.
Think of the ways we soothe a baby ~
soothing sound, reassuring touch, soft rhythm.
These are not random; they are innate in us.
These practices live in our DNA.
This is how human nervous systems have been soothed for all time.
And you can use them to lovingly recenter yourself anytime you feel off.
✨ Self-Love helps you find a sense of calm and returns you to your center.
These practices can be short and sweet, or as long as you need.
Try setting a timer for 3 minutes and 33 seconds if that’s all you have.
Sit for 11 minutes and 11 seconds if you want a deeper pause.
Or linger for 20–30 minutes if you have the time and need extra nourishment.
As you breathe, hum, or hold yourself,
let your own love soothe the part of you that feels stressed.
Imagine your Calm, Centered, Soul-Self
wrapping the part of you that's tender
in a warm, loving, compassionate hug.
When you’re ready,
you can move forward from this calm center within you.
When the world around us feels chaotic or scary,
this is how we find the calm in our center.
This is how we steady ourselves to meet life with loving presence.

“Peace is not the absence of chaos or conflict, but rather finding yourself in the midst of that chaos
and remaining calm in your heart.” ~ John Mroz
💗 Let's take a moment together to place a hand over our hearts,
take one intentional deep breath,
and whisper gently to ourselves:
“I can always return to my center.
My calm lives here, within my heart.”
