What You're Really Longing For...

We all spend far too much time
trying to fix our flaws and hide our perceived imperfections,
because we’re striving to reach some elusive, ideal outcome
where we’ll finally feel better about ourselves and our lives.
Notice what it feels like in your body when you read these next words:
What we’re all really longing for deep down,
isn’t to improve ourselves and our circumstances ~
it’s to relax into a profound acceptance of ourselves.
An acceptance that feels like acknowledgement, allowing, approval, affirmation…
A welcoming, loving, acceptance
of every part of yourself.
In your body, your mind, your spirit, and your heart.
Because that seemingly elusive outcome
(you know, the one where we’re perfect and our life is ideal),
will never come from some external achievement,
or from ‘fixing’ perceived imperfections,
or from releasing some part of us that we think is broken.
It can only ever truly come from loving ourselves as we are.
✨ Your own love and acceptance is what you've been seeking.
That urge to fix ourselves almost always arises
because there’s something we don’t want to feel.
From a very young age, many of us learned
it wasn’t safe to have our feelings.
Instead, we were taught that when we have feelings,
they need to be controlled, or fixed, or ignored, or even punished.
It was often more important for the adults in the room to remain comfortable.
So instead of sitting with uncomfortable feelings,
we rush to repair, change, or control the situation.
We’re all still striving for that elusive, ideal outcome
because we think it will eliminate discomfort from our lives.
But there’s no amount of fixing or achieving that will ever get us ‘there’.
Because the paradox is that you are already here…
And right here, loving yourself, just as you are,
is the profound acceptance you’ve been searching for all along.

To love yourself is to lovingly accept your whole being ~ not fixing, not fleeing ~
just welcoming the truth of who you are.
🌸 Next time you notice the urge to fix, remember there's a more loving way ~
You can pause. You can breathe. You can connect with yourself.
And instead of trying to make it go away
acknowledge and allow what you’re feeling.
Notice that you'll begin to relax... and you'll soften into your own love.
