Self-Love is Self-Care

There are several big and difficult things unfolding in my life right now.
I’m doing my best to hold myself through these experiences,
and trust that the changes being set in motion are happening for me.
I’m intentionally supporting myself through it all
by balancing my responsibilities with lots of rest,
and caring for myself in grounding and nourishing ways.
Because I deeply believe in the power of self-care for self-regulation.
But I've noticed that self-care is often approached as a performative act.
It’s become something to check off a list.
Something to make us look better on the outside.
Something that can be monetized.
Too often, we ‘perform’ self-care as an absent-minded way to self-soothe,
or to create an external image of well-being,
rather than to actually feel supported and nourished within.
True self-care has nothing to do with performance,
or bypassing difficult emotions we don't want to feel,
or living up to a certain standard of societal beauty.
It’s actually about how you show up for yourself in the experience.
✨ True self-care is rooted in Self-Love ~
being present with yourself in whatever you're doing.
You can go to a yoga class because you think you should.
You can focus on wearing the right clothes,
doing the poses perfectly,
thinking about how you look the whole time…
And you can call that self-care.
But is it?
Or you can go to a yoga class to be present with yourself.
You can focus on feeling your breath,
listening to your body,
meeting yourself with compassion in each pose,
while noticing what arises — physically and emotionally…
The action may look the same from the outside.
But the way it makes you feel inside is completely different.
Because one is coming from internal pressure.
And the other is coming from loving presence.
True self-care isn’t something you do.
It’s something you experience.
It requires the intention to be present with yourself.
To choose what feels genuinely supportive, from the inside out.
And Self-Love is a practice you can bring into everything you do.
It comes from your heart and it’s felt in your nervous system.
It shapes the way you move through your day.
So when you center Self-Love in your life…
Everything becomes an act of self-care.
The way you work.
The way you rest.
The way you nourish yourself.
The way you speak to yourself and others.
The way you make decisions.
The way you move through both the hard moments and the peaceful ones.
It all becomes an expression of how you care for yourself.
So as I'm moving through these difficult times,
instead of adding lots of self-care to my To-Do List
I'm simply bringing Self-Love into everything I do…
because this is how I can truly care for myself.
When you practice Self-Love as your foundation,
self-care is no longer a task to complete ~ it becomes the way you live.

Self-care is not something you do — it’s a relationship with yourself.
🩷 Shifting the Intention:
I invite you to think of something you need to do today.
Take a slow, deep breath, and gently ask yourself:
“Instead of doing it just to get it done,
how can I lovingly show up for myself as I do it?”
Let your intention be your guide.
