Awareness is the Opening

No matter how long we’ve been on a Self-Love journey,
and no matter how much we've learned to love ourselves,
there will always be times when we revert back to our old habits —
those familiar patterns of unhealthy behaviors and harmful inner dialog.
But what we can get pretty good at,
if we keep practicing,
is the ability to be Aware of how we’re treating ourselves.
Just yesterday,
I caught myself in a loop of self-criticism
for not getting as much done as I thought I “should”.
And the tendency was to self-criticize for being self-critical…
(can you relate??)
We so easily fall back into our old patterns.
But thankfully, I noticed it.
I noticed that old familiar pattern of self-criticism,
so I took a moment of pause to be with myself
in that feeling of not-enoughness.
Something I often express deep gratitude for
is how much better I’ve gotten at being Self-Aware.
Because now, as soon as I notice I’m being hard on myself,
I can use the moment as an opportunity
to Be With Myself in what I’m feeling...
And I can energetically hold the little girl inside of me
~ the one who’s afraid that she’s doing it wrong ~
with soooo much love and compassion.
And that feels so much better than 'shoulding' on myself.
Self-Love and compassion are what we all really need,
more than anything else.
I can promise you
that people are always doing the best they can
with the level of consciousness and awareness they have in the moment…
this includes me, and you too.
So, to practice Self-Love, we must practice Awareness:
the gentle, courageous willingness to witness ourselves as we are…
the sacred pause where we simply notice,
without judgment,
what’s happening inside of us.
Because when we notice, then we can bring in the love...
Awareness is the opening where Self-Love can enter.
