The Power of Self-Connection

I’ve felt like I’ve been moving through a bit of a fog these past several months.
I spend lots of wonderful quality time with dear friends,
and they help me to stay present and grounded while I’m with them,
but when I’m home and alone,
I’ve noticed myself just going through the motions.
I’m getting the necessary things done,
but I haven’t had any motivation beyond that.
I’ve been feeling disconnected.
And more than a little blah.
I’ve had to keep gently pulling myself back from distractions,
trying my best to focus on the task in front of me.
I’ve realized that I’ve been drifting further and further away
from the practices that keep me connected to myself.
And the farther I’ve drifted,
the more thick the fog has gotten,
making me feel more distracted, less clear,
and even less motivated.
✨ The less connected we are to ourselves,
the less connected we feel to our lives.
And when life feels hard,
it’s so easy to let ourselves drift.
We float quietly down the river of distraction and disconnection,
getting lost before we even realize how far we’ve gone.
I know I’ve been holding a lot these past few months…
I'm processing some heavy and difficult things.
So I understand why I’ve let myself drift away.
And I’ve given myself a lot of grace.
But I’m ready for the fog to clear.
I want to be on solid ground again.
So over the past several days,
I’ve been intentionally coming back home to myself.
I’ve been journaling,
reflecting on what’s present in my heart.
I’ve been practicing yin yoga,
slowly breathing into each extended pose
and feeling what’s present in my body.
I’ve been sitting in stillness,
and listening deeply
to all the parts of me that’ve been asking for attention.
I’m noticing how my mind is trying to convince me
that I don’t have time to focus on connecting with myself.
That I should be doing something more productive.
But the truth is,
the more I prioritize connecting with myself,
the more the fog is lifting.
Clarity is returning.
My focus is coming back.
Energy is beginning to move again.
We don’t find motivation outside of ourselves.
We can’t push our way into being productive.
Not for very long anyway.
But it arises naturally
when we take time to lovingly connect with ourselves.
When we nurture self-connection,
we have energy and focus for the other aspects of our life.
No force necessary.
Self-Love encourages a quiet return to the home within us.
It brings everything else back into alignment.
When we’re present and connected to ourselves,
we’re present and connected to the world around us.

💗 A Moment to Reconnect:
Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
Take a few slow, full breaths.
Letting your exhale be long and drawn out.
Feel your body beneath your hands.
Simply be present in this moment, right here with yourself.
