Prioritizing Connection
Updated: Aug 17
After spending time last week with the people I love the most,
I'm more convinced than ever that prioritizing connection
is what truly matters most in life.
Connection with others,
and connection with ourselves.
We spend so much time trying to get everything done
and put so much pressure on ourselves to do it all perfectly.
But getting everything done is an impossible goal.
And being perfect at anything is a completely arbitrary measure.
But connection, on the other hand, is always attainable.
✨Prioritizing connection is the one thing you’ll always be grateful for doing.
And connection isn’t about doing enough or doing it perfectly.
What matters is that the intention to connect is there.
Connection is simply about the way we show up.
It means showing up in such a way that we feel connected
to ourselves and whomever we’re interacting with.
Connection is about truly listening to understand.
It’s taking a pause and a thoughtful breath before answering.
It’s noticing how your body is responding and what you’re feeling.
It’s extending compassion, love, and grace because we’re all only human.
Whether you’re alone with yourself or with someone else,
connection happens when you set your distractions aside,
and tune in to the present moment with an open heart.
The quality of your connections is a measure
of how aligned you are with yourself,
and with what matters most to you.
We’ll never feel fulfilled if we try to measure our lives
by how productive we are,
or how much we accomplish,
or how perfect we manage to be.
But no matter how much or little you do,
and no matter how well you do it,
if you prioritize connection
it will truly make your life more meaningful.
Every day you have an opportunity to slow down, be present,
and choose connection over productivity or perfection.
Connection will always be one of the most loving things you can do for yourself.
Moments of connection will stay with us and nourish us until the end.
The quality of your life is shaped by how deeply you connect
with yourself, with your loved ones, with your community, and with the world.

"Connection is why we're here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives."

💕A Different Measure
I invite you to take an intentional deep breath.
Breathe in through the nose… then exhale slowly out through your mouth.
Now place a hand on your heart and gently ask yourself:
"Instead of focusing on getting enough done today,
how can I focus on feeling more connected?"
Notice what comes up.
