Letting Your Feelings Be Okay

Today I’m feeling tender and sensitive.
And there’s no particular reason why.
I’m noticing (and resisting) the tendency to be hard on myself
or wonder, "what’s wrong with you?"
That tendency is automatic for most of us
because we've been taught that we should always feel confident and secure.
It’s a survival mechanism in a world where it can be dangerous to be soft.
But all of us have moments of feeling vulnerable.
There are plenty of times when I feel deeply grounded.
Secure. Centered. Calm. Open to life.
And there are also times when I feel uncertain.
Scared. Apprehensive. Fragile. Grasping for certainty.
Sometimes I move between these over the course of a week.
Sometimes over the course of a day.
Sometimes within a matter of hours.
And you know what?
That's perfectly human.
Our emotions are complex.
They change and shift just like the weather.
Sometimes before we even realize it.
Especially for those of us who are highly sensitive beings.
There can be obvious external factors that influence how we're feeling.
But there are also countless subtle, sometimes imperceptible, influences at play.
Things like hormonal shifts,
lack of good sleep,
environmental micro-stressors,
an overwhelmed nervous system,
a sensory cue that triggers a memory,
a conversation that unknowingly presses on an old wound.
Sometimes we don't even realize why we feel different.
We just do.
✨ You don't have to feel strong and centered in order to be okay.
Through my Self-Love practice,
I’ve developed easier access to the space of trust and security within me.
But there are still days when it takes more effort to find my center.
And that gets to be okay.
I actually think of those days as a gift.
They remind me to practice self-compassion
instead of perfection.
Because being human means experiencing the full spectrum of our feelings.
The ease and the uncertainty.
The steadiness and the wobble.
The trust and the fear.
What matters isn't that we always feel secure and grounded.
It’s how we meet ourselves when we don’t...
So let's meet ourselves with compassion, gentleness, and grace.
We can simply return to ourselves
with the understanding
that every feeling is allowed to be here.
And we can let it all be okay,
knowing that it will change,
just like the weather.
Self-Love helps us to develop the capacity
to be okay with whatever feelings are present in each moment.

"Feelings are like weather. They just happen, and then they blow away." ~ Emily Henry
🌤️ A Moment with Your Temporary Internal Weather:
I invite you to take a slow, deep breath,
and notice whatever feeling is present for you right now.
Whether it's good or bad, release the need to justify it.
Resist the need to change it or grip onto it.
Simply let yourself be human and allow it to run its course.
It’s okay for you to feel whatever you feel.
