Don't Leave Yourself Behind
Updated: Oct 5
How often do we sacrifice what we deeply need
to prioritize achievement
simply because we believe it will make us feel good about ourselves?
We sacrifice our need to rest
because we prioritize getting more done.
We sacrifice our need for self-care
because we prioritize being productive.
We sacrifice our need to be present with those we love
because we prioritize working more to stay ahead.
We sacrifice our need to follow the pull of our heart
because we prioritize reaching for the next accomplishment.
Without even realizing it,
we sacrifice our primary needs
in pursuit of secondary goals.
And sometimes we become so accustomed
to overriding our fundamental needs
that we stop recognizing them as needs at all.
We leave ourselves behind
in pursuit of goals
that we think will make us feel good about ourselves,
only to find that we still feel incomplete.
✨ Self-Love reminds us to honor what fulfills us internally first,
before chasing external accomplishments.
Because there’s no accomplishment worth achieving
at the detriment of your relationship with yourself
or your relationships with your loved ones.
This doesn’t mean that your goals shouldn’t be important.
But they’re meant to support your life,
not become more important
than being present for the things that truly matter.
Stop asking yourself to pay for your achievements
at the expense of your well-being or your relationships.
Instead, we can lovingly ask ourselves questions like:
What feeling am I hoping this accomplishment will give me?
Am I sacrificing my own needs for accomplishments that may be hollow?
Love yourself enough to let the answer matter.
You’re not meant to abandon yourself for the sake of accomplishment.
Your connection to yourself and your loved ones is what truly matters.

"Success based on anything but internal fulfillment is bound to by empty."

💗 Let Your Needs Matter
I invite you to take a slow, deep breath in.
As you slowly exhale,
notice where you're holding tension in your body.
Breathe into that place and let it soften.
Then gently ask yourself:
"What do I need right now?"
Let your needs matter.
